JUANITA SUAREZ

Juanita Suárez, Associate Professor at SUNY Brockport, serves a joint position in the Department of Dance and the Arts for Children Program. Suarez received her PhD from Texas Woman’s University and her MFA from the University of Utah. A recipient of the Rockefeller Grant for US-Map Fund for Culture, she conducted research in Mexico, resulting in collaborations with Luz y Fuerza (Mexico) and El Corazon, a migrant ensemble. She performed for Legends of China 2000, a dance exchange involving forty-five American and Chinese dance artists/scholars. She is co-founding member of the Latina Dance Project (LDP), a national/international ensemble of Latina performers. In July/August of 2006, Suárez will teach in Tianjin, China for the Teachers for Education Awareness Project.
