MISSY PFOHL-SMITH

Missy Pfohl Smith, MFA (Sarah Lawrence College) is the Founder and Artistic Director of BIODANCE, a non-profit contemporary dance company that explores human interaction and the environment through collaboration with multi-media artists and dancers. Her work has been performed in New York City in venues such as University Settlement and Danspace at St. Mark's Church (as part of the Remember Project); at The Yard on Martha's Vineyard, in the ImageMovementSound festivals and ArtWalk in Rochester, Heidelberg Live Music and Dance Festival in Ohio, and at Vassar College and SUNY Brockport. Missy performed and toured with Randy James Dance Works as a founding company member from 1993 to 2003, with Paul Mosley from 1997 to 2004, and with Philippa Kaye Company. Missy has performed and taught across the U.S. and in Poland, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan. She is currently Assistant Professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and serves on the Board of Rochester Contemporary Dance Collective. biodance@frontiernet.net
